A Jewish Autistic's Experience Visiting a Concentration Camp

In the year 2000,  I was a senior in high school. I was the odd one out at school but I was accepted at religious school and temple youth group. There was a presentation about a special trip called the March of the Living. The March of the Living was for high school students to visit the sites of the Holocaust and Israel. It was to experience oppression and liberation at a young age. Reading about the atrocities of the Holocaust is much different than visiting the sites where all the horrific events took place.

One part of the trip stands out to me. I was looking around Midonik, a death camp in Poland. I saw the barracks where people were kept. There was one full of shoes. These shoes were stolen from the people who were rounded up like cattle. They were chained to the beds unless the guards unlocked the chains.

When I walked into the barracks, I saw all the shoes encased by glass on the beds. I felt completely withdrawn. I felt like I had left my body. I was hearing the screams and v…

Hard of Hearing Autistic's Views of the Autistic Community and Autism Community

There has been a lot of talk about the Autistic Community Vs. the "autism community." People say its one or the other and there is no in between. I do not agree with this. It may have something to do with me being involved with the Deaf Community.

The Autistic Community The Autistic Community is exactly how it sounds. It is made up of every autistic person in the world. Just autistic people. There is no way a non autistic person can be a full fledged member of it. It is just impossible. They cannot co opt our identity. Members of the Autistic Community communicate, perceive and interact with the world different than non autistic people. The majority of the Autistic Community does not want to be changed. The autistic community wants to be accepted for who they are.
True Allies of the Autistic Community What are true allies? They are non Autistics that respect Autistic culture. They support Autistic people the best they can while respecting the rights and dignity of Autistic…

Autistic History: Autism One

Autism one is a non profit organization that was started by a small group of parents of autistic children.  It is 100% a quackfest. They use biomedical "cures" to try to "heal" their children from autism.

They believe that the parents must remain the driving force of the "autism community." This is because "the stakes are too high and the issues too sacred to delegate to outside interests." This leaves the Autistic voice out of the equation

They believe that autism is a "preventable/treatable biomedical condition." They hold on to the belief that autism is caused by environmental triggers. Autism is not caused by "bad genes."They call autism an epidemic. Autism is the result of not having a better diagnosis.

The causes that Autism One believes cause autism:

gut bugsallergiesheavy metal toxicitymitochondrial disordersantioxidant deficienciesnutritional deficienciesautoimmune diseases Autism One believes all these are treatable…

What is MMS?

For those who don’t know who I am. My name is Amanda Seigler and I am an autistic advocate. I have been behind the scenes fighting abusive treatments done to autistic children for over six years. One in particular has been under scrutiny in the media over the past week. Now I do not have to keep quiet about this issue. It is public. This treatment is called Miracle Mineral Solution.

Miracle Mineral Solution by the Genesis II church
Miracle Mineral Solution is Chlorine Dioxide. It is FDA approved for certain applications. This application is for purifying water in very minute concentrations. The application in this case, is a “miracle” cure for autism. This is applied in much higher concentrations into enemas, oral solutions, topical solutions and even in humidifiers. Side effects include sores, rashes, liver failure, jaundice, vomiting, diarrhea, shedding the intestinal lining and even altering red blood cells. Who came up with such a horror? Jim Humble at the Genesis II Church of Hea…

What is ABA and My Experience

What is ABA? ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis. ABA is a type of therapy that focuses on improving behaviors such as social skills, communication, reading academics, etc. ABA is effective on children and adults with psychological disorders and neurological differences. Some methods are opperant conditioning, classical conditioning and other dog training techniques. Its goals it to make a child appear typical. There is no room for a child having emotions or feelings through the process. It leaves the child to feel over time that they are not good enough and they need to mask. They must never show their true self.   If a child does not comply, they have been known to restrain, take away a comfort item, etc. It has been known to cause PTSD. A link to the study.
History of ABA ABA's roots are with behaviorism. In the 1950's Dr. Ole Ivar Lovaas started his work in institutional settings were treatments used using Freudian approaches. People who were self injuring were given…

Problems with Adam's FMT Study

The FMT results sound promising for a martyr or warrior parent but the study was not nonbiased. There are connections between Adams and Jeff Bradstreet,  the anti-vaxxer movement, the abandoned chelation therapy study, Generation Rescue, Autism Research Institute and Autism One

Connection between Adams and Bradstreet: Adams and Jeff Bradstreet were investigators in at least three previous studies together:

A Case-Control Study of Mercury Burden in Children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders

Safety and efficacy of oral DMSA therapy for children with autism spectrum disorders: Part A - Medical results

The Severity of Autism Is Associated with Toxic Metal Body Burden and Red Blood Cell Glutathione Levels

These studies are always to find the cure or "fix" autistics. They research biomedical or pseudoscience methods to "treat" autistics.

Connection between Adams and the Antivaxxer Movement When posting on the official Facebook page for Arizona State University, he was promot…

Quackery Exposed: Fecal Microbiota Transplant

Fecal transplant is another treatment said to cure autism. Recently in the news, Melissa Eaton exposed them. What is Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT)?

FMT is a procedure that delivers healthy human donor stool to a patient via colonoscopy, enema, nasogastric tube, or in capsules (known as poop pills). It is only prescribed for serious C. Diff infections.

C. diff is a serious infection — one that causes debilitating diarrhea and in the U.S., in 2011 alone, C. diff was responsible for 29,000 deaths in adults. Treating C. diff begins with administering antibiotics; however, recurrence is common. By the third episode of severe C. diff, it is unlikely antibiotics will cure the infection; so, your child’s doctor may consider FMT as an option. It is still an experimental procedure and should only be done under medical intervention.
How does FMT work? The GI tract has an “ecosystem” of thousands of bacteria and other organisms that help keep the body healthy. When your child is given an antibi…

Autistic History: Jeff Bradstreet

Jeff Bradstreet was an alternative medicine doctor who lived from 1954-2015. He was an American who was a former preacher. He ran the International Child Development Resource Center in Melbourne, Florida. He also ran a medical practice in Buford, Georgia and Arizona. He practice homeopathy at those practices. He also founded Good News Doctor Foundation where his goal was to combine christian beliefs with his medical practice.

Bradstreet obtained his Florida Medical Licence in 1984. He received a bachelor of science degree from the University of South Florida in 1976. He went onto medical school at the same institution three years later. He focused on aerospace medicine. He received his training from WIlford Hall Medical Center.

Why Bradstreet was Problematic He published autism research, where he claimed that vaccines cause autism. He did so in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons. This is not indexed by PubMed. His research claimed that autistic children had a higher leve…
